I saw the rain outside, a strong impulse made me start humming ‘Gloomy Sunday’. It followed a firm decision to make my own version of the song. Half way through the song, I realised it might have been Ela speaking through me. I found out about my dear friend Ela’s passing 2 days ago. My memory of her voice is vivid. This song is my tribute to her.

Life that you and I have right now is a gift. My voice is to be used to finish off all that is left unsaid and undone.

She was so beautiful, talented, kind, generous and cute. She’s one of my very few friends, and she was an amazing friend to me over the last 10 years. She always came to my shows whenever she was around, and told people about me whenever there was or wasn’t an opportunity. She used to tell me how much she loved my darker music vibes. We have just started our journey together in music and art. We were going to do so much more together. I guess singing a song for her is the least I can do now.
